‘a more excellent ministry’. Reading the ceremony ordained by Jehovah for the worship in both Tabernacle and the Temple is both fascinating and instructive. Every ordinance and every utensil in a quite complex pattern of service had a significance. The priestly tribe of Levi had an important part to play in the life of the nation.
But Jesus was made an High Priest according to a far greater order and filled a great ministry. Once and for all, His sacrifice atoned for sin. Thereafter, any further offering under the Old Testament law became superfluous.
All who now come to God trusting in the sacrifice of His Son find the reality of this excellent ministry, as well as receiving assurance it has satisfied God’s demands.
