‘along unfamiliar paths I will guide them’ [Isaiah 42:16 (NIV)]

‘along unfamiliar paths I will guide them’. What comfort these words are to those who step into the unknown today! And all of us are in this category really, for while most of us live a regular and patterned life, we all know that the unexpected is likely to happen anytime, and the pattern will be broken one day anyway.
But God does lead His children along new and untrodden ground. The gospel message would never have reached where it is today if it were not so. And then the Christian is asked to ascend some steep paths and at times to carry some heavy burdens. Visibility can drop to nil in some places: ‘In peril’ becomes the order of the day.
In all these circumstances it is of inestimable value to know that the Lord has promised to guide you.
