‘I must also see Rome’ [Acts 19:21]

‘I must also see Rome’. Standing on their own, these words could make Paul a tourist! But before we do that we do well to ask why it was the Apostle had this burning desire to visit Italy: was it for its buildings, beaches or treasures of art? We know it was none of these.
Paul wanted to meet the small band of believers in Rome. He wanted to go there because God had given him a vision of him witnessing in that great Metropolis. Because of this, he was prepared to endure shipwreck on the journey, poor food and little of it, along with quite mediocre accommodation if only he could see the fulfilment of God’s purpose and reach the city to which God had called him. Today, offering your holiday or vacation to the Lord can be as thrilling and rewarding.
