‘the babe wept’ [Exodus 2:6]

July 5

‘the babe wept’. Babies are always crying – at least that is the impression some of us get! But we cannot help but feel that baby Moses’ crying was a ‘providential weep’! It incited sorrow and compassion in the heart of Pharoah’s daughter and so he was taken into the royal household in Egypt.
God’s hand was on the child. Is it not on all children? Or was it only ‘special’ children about whom Jesus told us not to offend since each has a guardian angel appearing before the Father?
We may pass over a crying baby, but God is mindful. We shall not know the purpose of God in every child that is born, but we can be sure there is one – a divine plan in every child that is born. Those working with young lives have a job of greatest importance.
