In our age of information technology it should be no surprise to realise that God keeps a record of all that has taken place. The gospel message has been proclaimed for many years and an accurate record has been kept of all who have responded. We may not know if a decision to trust Christ is real or not\, but God knows.\nHere at the end of the Scriptures we read of the Lamb’s book of life holding the names of those who have received Christ – the Lamb of God slain for sinners on the Cross.\nThe cry of the sinner “Lord save me” must undoubtedly be the sign for the angel in charge to inscribe a new name in that book of honour and glory.

The mass visitors to Jerusalem at the Feast of Pentecost went along to see and hear unlearned men speak the gospel fluently in their own language. An inquisitive crowd later gathered around the cripple in the Gate Beautiful who had been healed.\nBut Jesus asked His hearers what they saw in John the Baptist. He was a forerunner or messenger sent by God to announce the Messiah. John had no modern gimmicks\, his message was simply\, ‘Repent’. John had none of the usual attractions of modern-day promotion. But his message pertains if we would prepare for receiving the Lord.

Some are so enslaved that they seek nothing other than gain for their master\, the Devil.\nYou do not need to look far to find those whose keenness has beguiled many into admiring\, or even adhering to\, their beliefs.\nIt is sad that those who have the truth are so apathetic at times. We can only attribute this to a failure to appreciate the urgent need there is to disseminate truth.\nJesus went about doing good. Those who heard Him were blessed and uplifted. It was and is a grand thing to be saved. Let His followers exhibit their Master’s zeal and proclaim a truth that in turn promises further zealous activity.

Setting the example is the best mode of instruction.\nIf we tidied our own lives it would be more likely to encourage those beholding us to do the same instead of issuing pious denouncements that make us hypocrites in the eyes of the Lord.

Unbelief only deprives a person of God’s blessing and closes one’s eyes to what is ahead.\nThis is among the last statements in the Old Testament and it is in contrast to the words of Peter in the New about those who say “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised?”\nGod warns that judgment will fall on all who love evil and rebel against God.\nWe need events in the world and the word of God in the Scripture to turn us to the Lord before judgment falls.

And while you say you enjoy your slice of this life\, remember those whose days are spent hungry and diseased through no fault of their own.\nNo! Jesus came that we might have life – not this life but eternal life\, away from the sin and turmoil we know here.\nIt is the eternal life of bliss that Jesus refers to when He says that those who do not trust in Him shall not see life.\nThe bottom line is “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved”!

Certainly\, no harm can come to the believer until he has completed his course – no lasting harm that is. DESCRIPTION:“she came behind him”.  Why did this woman come behind Jesus. Could it be because her faith was so strong that there was no need to confront Him? Her faith was in Jesus. She saw no need to explain her plight; she realised it was unnecessary and it would be humiliating anyway. Almost certainly she had seen or heard what Jesus had done for others and noted that it was His power rather than their merit that mattered.\nIt is enheartening to any of us that this woman came behind because many of us would never go out in front. And Jesus’ power healing this lady shows us that He meets our deepest long-standing need with no fuss or fanfare.\nIt is true that she was soon in front of Him\, but Jesus gave her new life and power to face the future in public.

Men try to show that life can be lived without bothering God or finding what He desires of them.\nThey seem to prosper\, they “enjoy life to the full” as they would say and often live long and escape many of the traps into which others fall.\nYet those who do not heed God’s commands never have God’s blessing. It is the blessing of the Lord that makes a person really rich: God’s blessing brings joy\, never sorrow\, though the path of the just may be arduous and difficult. The secret about keeping the blessing is obedience to the will of the Lord at all times.

And if yours is a harvest field\, recognise that you are finishing what another began.\nRemember it is God who gives the increase: the important thing is that we be labourers in His field and not bystanders.

For one thing\, you know He will answer you and come to meet you. Yours will never be the experience of having waited in vain.\nPrayer is a good example of waiting – addressing the Almighty and then waiting for the answer.\nWaiting before God demands heart preparation: a self-examination that can only result in submission to His will.\nWait for Him and He’ll fill your life to overflowing with a goodness and bounty that can be found nowhere else. Wait on Him and whatever else happens\, you’ll never be ashamed.

All these years God the Father is preparing a Bride – the church of Christ – for His Son. Few would have thought the advent of the bridegroom would be so long in coming. We cannot begin to imagine the splendour when the Holy City\, the new Jerusalem descends from heaven prepared as a bride dressed for her husband.\nYet preparing His church\, the bride of Christ is what God is doing. All the places at heaven’s banqueting table will be filled. Right down the years\, those who have waited have looked for this glorious event. Now it is our turn to be doing so. Let us not lose concentration. We with all true lovers of the Lord Jesus will soon see their glorious Lord.

He is the Good Shepherd Who gives His life for the sheep.\nWe read that in Christ we are lifted to sit in heavenly places. He ensures that those who honour Him\, His Father will honour.\nIt is not deserved: there is no merit we can claim but when born of the Spirit into His family we are eternally precious and honoured in His sight.

DESCRIPTION:“They all asked\, ‘Are you then the Son of God? ‘ “.  Some may have asked by way of jest: the religious leaders who apprehended Jesus would be sarcastic. For others it was something to say and none of them really knew the importance of what was taking place. But they all asked: it was a general question and a united response. All confronted with God manifest in the flesh must have asked who He was – He was one of them and yet so different.\nThe question still needs to be asked for\, though crucified\, He rose again and lives today. Not seen with our physical eyes\, but in a variety of situations and at many of life’s cross-roads He meets us. God gives us the opportunity to trust. He is the Son of God: He has become our Saviour: we must believe in Him and find Him there beside us today.

And a foot in the door soon becomes an admittance inside.\nYou can make yourself a sinner by neglecting the new life found in Christ just as neglect leads to decay in any other area of life.\nGoing back never was a useful advance and taking care we do not begin to rebuild today what the Lord removed for us yesterday is a wise and important exercise.

Wealth is a rather precarious situation – it does not procure the things in life that matter and it brings responsibility that none but a few can properly manage.\nBut if the Lord sends the two extremes we can be pretty certain He sends all in between.\nSo when the pendulum does swing to one extreme or the other you do well to recognise the hand of the Lord in both.\nAnd if your path never deviates much from the centre you can be content with what you have\, knowing it is from the Lord.\nThe secret is to let all things speak to you of the Lord and draw you nearer to Him. This was what Hannah did.

Maybe some were even evil in their intentions.\nNow she had found the Saviour of the world and it was making all the difference. Now it was worth leaving her former life and Jesus made it possible for her to do so. From the moment this unknown Jew had begun the conversation at Sychar’s well to the time He showed her He was the Messiah\, was a journey from death to life\, from dark despair to glorious hope.\nWe admire her for her desire to share her experience with others: can we emulate her? Her zeal is so different from much nominal Christian religion – no doubt because she had that personal encounter with Jesus.

On earth that same note of praise is taken up by individual hearts that have experienced His love\, known His forgiveness and felt the presence of Jesus.\nThere is no flaw or imperfection: nothing hidden or underhand. What God says He will do\, what He promises He will perform. Stooping to be near the least of His saints\, ever mindful of the need of each of His children. Going ahead\, guarding behind\, supporting to the right and to the left\, it is not surprising His people praise Him. He is greatly to be praised.

Its truth must be taught as a precept but one that needs to be put into practice.\nJesus could raise the paralytic from his bed and this bore testimony to the fact that He could forgive his sin also.\nThose who criticised Jesus’ ministry to tax-collectors and sinners wanted religious form without any resultant experience.\nThat is why He told them to go and learn that practical mercy and not sacrifice is what is required in Christian living.\nGo and learn that God can meet the needs of sinful man today – this is the very heart of the Gospel.
