She saw no need to explain her plight; she realised it was unnecessary and it would be humiliating anyway. Almost certainly she had seen or heard what Jesus had done for others and noted that it was His power rather than their merit that mattered.\nIt is enheartening to any of us that this woman came behind because many of us would never go out in front. And Jesus’ power healing this lady shows us that He meets our deepest long-standing need with no fuss or fanfare.\nIt is true that she was soon in front of Him\, but Jesus gave her new life and power to face the future in public.

Men try to show that life can be lived without bothering God or finding what He desires of them.\nThey seem to prosper\, they “enjoy life to the full” as they would say and often live long and escape many of the traps into which others fall.\nYet those who do not heed God’s commands never have God’s blessing. It is the blessing of the Lord that makes a person really rich: God’s blessing brings joy\, never sorrow\, though the path of the just may be arduous and difficult. The secret about keeping the blessing is obedience to the will of the Lord at all times.

And if yours is a harvest field\, recognise that you are finishing what another began.\nRemember it is God who gives the increase: the important thing is that we be labourers in His field and not bystanders.

Yours will never be the experience of having waited in vain.\nPrayer is a good example of waiting – addressing the Almighty and then waiting for the answer.\nWaiting before God demands heart preparation: a self-examination that can only result in submission to His will.\nWait for Him and He’ll fill your life to overflowing with a goodness and bounty that can be found nowhere else. Wait on Him and whatever else happens\, you’ll never be ashamed.

We cannot begin to imagine the splendour when the Holy City\, the new Jerusalem descends from heaven prepared as a bride dressed for her husband.\nYet preparing His church\, the bride of Christ is what God is doing. All the places at heaven’s banqueting table will be filled. Right down the years\, those who have waited have looked for this glorious event. Now it is our turn to be doing so. Let us not lose concentration. We with all true lovers of the Lord Jesus will soon see their glorious Lord.

He is the Good Shepherd Who gives His life for the sheep.\nWe read that in Christ we are lifted to sit in heavenly places. He ensures that those who honour Him\, His Father will honour.\nIt is not deserved: there is no merit we can claim but when born of the Spirit into His family we are eternally precious and honoured in His sight.

Wealth is a rather precarious situation – it does not procure the things in life that matter and it brings responsibility that none but a few can properly manage.\nBut if the Lord sends the two extremes we can be pretty certain He sends all in between.\nSo when the pendulum does swing to one extreme or the other you do well to recognise the hand of the Lord in both.\nAnd if your path never deviates much from the centre you can be content with what you have\, knowing it is from the Lord.\nThe secret is to let all things speak to you of the Lord and draw you nearer to Him. This was what Hannah did.

Maybe some were even evil in their intentions.\nNow she had found the Saviour of the world and it was making all the difference. Now it was worth leaving her former life and Jesus made it possible for her to do so. From the moment this unknown Jew had begun the conversation at Sychar’s well to the time He showed her He was the Messiah\, was a journey from death to life\, from dark despair to glorious hope.\nWe admire her for her desire to share her experience with others: can we emulate her? Her zeal is so different from much nominal Christian religion – no doubt because she had that personal encounter with Jesus.

On earth that same note of praise is taken up by individual hearts that have experienced His love\, known His forgiveness and felt the presence of Jesus.\nThere is no flaw or imperfection: nothing hidden or underhand. What God says He will do\, what He promises He will perform. Stooping to be near the least of His saints\, ever mindful of the need of each of His children. Going ahead\, guarding behind\, supporting to the right and to the left\, it is not surprising His people praise Him. He is greatly to be praised.

They are repenting of their sin\, asking for forgiveness and receiving new life – eternal life – at the hand of a living Lord Jesus. God’s power is nothing to be ashamed of\, but unless you and I tell it\, it will not be experienced.

We need the same progression – an advance from just knowing Jesus to be a person to knowing Him as the Lord Whom we worship and adore as our Saviour and Lord.\nMany see He was a prophet: we need to pray and seek that discernment that tells us He is the Lord risen from the dead and then to make Him our Lord.

In this chapter the Apostle Paul makes it clear that there are numerous ways in which the Spirit may be seen in a life. All have one purpose – for the common good of the Body of Christ.\nNo one person can appreciate the many manifestations of the Spirit and for this reason we find it difficult to recognise and to embrace all we see. The Lord understands us and has a place and ministry for each one.\nThe Body is so large and diverse that its glory and greatness will not be known until all is complete. It needs every member of the Body of Christ to recognise and know his or her gift and then to be sure it is used to the glory of God.

The Maker’s instructions\, which in our case must be the most important\, are the most neglected. Yet the Bible says that His commands are not burdensome. \nIt was to rid man of the blockage caused by sin that Jesus came and those whom He sets free find observing God’s commandments a delight.

Jesus raises the fallen and puts power into the faint-hearted.

Worship will become a delight and glorifying to God when you’re filled with the Spirit. Let God fill your heart today to overflowing – others will be blessed.

He said quite categorically that those who believed in Him had everlasting life. \nThat is not to say they were spared passing through the curtain of death. Jesus said that all who have died will hear His voice and be raised or resurrected. He went on to say that those who have done good will come forth to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of damnation. \nIt means\, what you do now\, effects what will happen then.

She experienced a bereavement and found herself attending to a mother-in-law whom she had come to love. Her poverty brought out the beauty of her character. She listened to her mother-in-law and came to trust Jehovah. God wonderfully blessed her and gave her a full reward. \nThe story has been repeated countless times only with the details changed. Trusting in the refuge of the Almighty is the place of blessing for us all.

When Jesus entered our world and fulfilled His Father’s will in His atoning death on the Cross\, the law of life in Christ took over in the lives of all who made a commitment to Him. \nThose now passing through the veil of death may cry ‘O death where is thy sting?’ Those who were once burdened with the guilt of sin exclaim\, ‘There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus’. \nLife in Christ is an emancipating experience.

He can recycle the rubbish and make it useful once again. In Christ the sinner becomes the saint\, the lost is found and the broken relationship is restored. If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation\, the old has gone\, the new has come. If you do not know the forgiveness from sin that Jesus gives\, then come to Him today and let Him make you precious and useful to Father God.
