“Have faith in God” [Mark 11:22]
October 11
“Have faith in God”. It is not without significance that these words were spoken in relation to a fig tree that withered and died when Jesus cursed it having found no fruit thereon.
Few of us have a faith in God that extends to fig trees, or the little things of life. We feel we can manage the sand-dunes ourselves: it is when climbing mountains we need help from the Lord. To most of us, faith is like a booster rocket – only to be used in short sharp bursts when needed. It is something to get us round tight corners, or swiftly past the experiences we don’t relish.
But Jesus brought it into the after-dinner dessert of life. He showed that an unproductive fig tree was within the confines of faith.
Faith in God for every department of your life is not misplaced.
