“Please let me speak to the people” [Acts 21:39(NIV)]

“Please let me speak to the people”. The Roman soldiers ran to rescue Paul from the mob that was beating him and were about to take him into their barracks when Paul made this request. The appearance of these soldiers had quietened the riotous crowd and Paul saw his opportunity to speak to the people. Others might have taken the opportunity to go inside for safety, but not Paul.
Paul was motivated by the love of Christ as it reached down to him on the Damascus Road and commissioned him to be an ambassador for Christ.
Whether to family, friends, workmates or strangers who might listen, our prayer to the Lord might be “Please empower me to speak to them today!”
