“So you will be my people, and I will be your God” [Jeremiah 30:22(NIV)]

September 7

“So you will be my people, and I will be your God” .The Old Testament prophets show us the difficulty God was having with His people. As we read in this chapter, their wound (received when turning away from the Lord) was incurable and their injury beyond healing. Guilt was great and their sins many and God had to punish them.
In the New Testament we read that no chastisement is pleasant. But God knows what He is about and God’s assurance to His people in whatever generation they were called upon to serve Him, would come through the instruction and correction and be to His glory.
It is a two way promise – we will be His and He will be ours. Don’t dwell on present conditions, but the promise of God for the future.
