“seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal” .When you feel you stand alone or when you conclude the whole world lies in wickedness, to realise that there are those in every place who have not bowed the knee to Baal is a great encouragement. The blessing of this truth may not have become immediately apparent to Elijah, for he was in the depths of depression. But one great blessing of his depression is that we’ve come to hear these comforting words.
All seven thousand may not have thought precisely as Elijah did: there may have been a variety of interpretations both of the Law of Moses and of current trends of the day. But all that number had, by inference, made the Lord Jehovah their God. And today hundreds of thousands have made Jesus Lord of their life.
