“By faith the walls of Jericho fell down” [Hebrews 11:30]

“By faith the walls of Jericho fell down”. The faith was in the hearts of Joshua and the Children of Israel who marched around the city day after day for a whole week. They encompassed the city seven times the seventh day, blew their trumpets and shouted with a great shout. Not an arrow was fired: no swords clashed. Whoever heard of a great city captured in this way? It was contrary to reason. But God had spoken and His followers believed and implicitly enacted what He said. Walls still fall flat when God’s children obey His voice and let faith triumph over reason – walls of indifference, opposition, ungodliness. The devil may have spent years erecting and fortifying but the deliverance of faith can fell them in a moment.
