“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” [Joshua 8:1(NIV)]
“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged”. These were God’s words to Joshua and that made all the difference. We are afraid and become discouraged because we do not know and cannot see God’s plan.
God says “Do not be afraid” because those who follow Him have nothing to fear. Fear will be fuelled by the devil: trust is built on faith and these are gifts of God.
Joshua was fearful and discouraged by past failure and defeat at the battle of Ai. But the sins of Achan had been dealt with. Whatever the mistakes and failings of your past, if dealt with by confession and the cleansing of the blood of Jesus, you need have no fear. When fear is done away the cause for discouragement disappears too. Look to the Lord to give you this victory today.
