“Do not labour for the food which perishes” [John 6:27(RAV)]

“Do not labour for the food which perishes” .You have to work – the curse upon man in the Garden of Eden was that in toil he would eat from the fruit of the ground. And the Apostle Paul wrote that if a man would not work, he should not eat.
Here Jesus is telling us not to labour exclusively for material things. There is a food which endures to everlasting life and the danger is that in pursuing material food you neglect the things of the Spirit.
God will provide for us as He does for the birds of the air and flowers of the field. We need to put our effort into the Kingdom of God. We need to let our lives be lived for God’s glory. By means of the saving grace that flows from Calvary, be a “paid up” member of God’s kingdom.
