“my flesh shall rest in hope” [Acts 2:26]

May 28

“my flesh shall rest in hope”. Naturally speaking my body, or my flesh is slowly dying. I am trying to get done all I can before my last breath heralds an enforced rest. But he whose hope is in the Lord knows One who rose again triumphant from the grave: mightily and victoriously overcoming the last enemy which is death.
The New Testament describes the soul of the believer as “asleep in Jesus” when at rest in the grave. The hope of the resurrection burns on. Their resting is only until the number of the redeemed is complete.
Because Jesus lives His followers will live also – in perfect bliss and fulfilment of eternal life. It is decreed I must lay down my sword, but let it be known that when I do so, I rest in hope of the glory of God.
