“Peace, be still” [Mark 4:39]
June 22
“Peace, be still”. There are really two statements in these words of Jesus as He stood among the frightened disciples in a storm.
Peace – that is His Name – Prince of Peace. He challenged the fear that had gripped His disciples. In that boat with Jesus was the safest place they could be. “Peace” was spoken to their troubled hearts and it is Christ’s word to you today.
“Be still” – that was the command to the raging sea. We can understand that the devil saw to it that the storm was the fiercest the disciples had seen. Jesus turned storm into calm – wind and waves had to obey Him.
We can be at peace in the storm when Christ is with us. A hostile environment changes at His word of command.
