“Put this fellow in the prison” [II Chronicles 18:26]
May 3
“Put this fellow in the prison”. Micaiah the prophet was not the last man to be interned at the whim of a ruling despot. He did not prophesy favourably according to the king’s desire and lost his freedom as a result.
But putting Micaiah in prison did not silence the voice of truth, or King Ahab’s conscience, neither did it avert the pending judgment of God.
Better to have a good conscience in prison than an evil one outside. Micaiah’s bread and water of affliction was not pleasant but his refusal to compromise is to be emulated. In point of fact, though in prison, Micaiah was gloriously free. So are all who allow God to speak through them, whether inside prison or out.
