“they made ready the passover” [Luke 22:13]

“they made ready the passover”. Some preparation is needed if we are to glean the most from special occasions. (On some occasions, of course, the Lord does delight to bless by surprise.)
Jesus told His disciples to make ready the passover, nominating the place where they were to meet, and they did so. If we would find what God requires of us by way of preparation and make ready, His blessing might sink deeper into our needy souls. Any meeting with God which we know about beforehand deserves some preparation on our part. The Passover feast was ordained to commemorate the great exodus of Israel out of the bondage of Egypt.
Any commemoration should be a rededication. Our God is not only Lord of what is past, He is Lord of today and we need to experience His mighty deliverance now.
