“treasure in heaven” [Luke 18:22]

“treasure in heaven”. The wonder is that more do not see the great opportunity life affords each one to lay up treasure in heaven.
People work hard in the world, but do little or nothing about spiritual things. They toil in the world’s vineyard yet stand idle in God’s work. They strive for the gates of success in this life and neglect heaven’s gate to eternal life.
The ruler to whom Jesus spoke about treasure in heaven had meticulously kept the letter of the law but not known love for God in his heart. His riches were the hindrance.
Poor in this world’s goods yet having Christ is infinitely better than rich in this world’s eyes without Him. Those who are poor have greater opportunity to lay up treasure in heaven, because riches can get in the way of doing this.
