“his sleep went from him” [Daniel 6:18]

“his sleep went from him”. Darius had been tricked into issuing an edict that Daniel could not observe. It marked the end of Daniel’s presidency. Darius was made to place his seal on the mouth of the lion’s den into which Daniel had been thrown. Not surprising his sleep went from him!
Yet God was using this incident to tell Darius and through him the whole world that the God of Daniel is the living God.
Sometimes we make mistakes we cannot rectify. Our soul is so disturbed that we cannot sleep. In all such cases the Lord can turn gross misconduct into great triumph for His name if we call upon Him, trust in Him and look for His deliverance, as Darius found out when he returned in the morning.
