“with all speed” [Acts 17:15]

November 4

“with all speed”. This was the command that Paul sent to Silas and Timothy in Thessalonica, as he waited for them in Athens. It was more than as soon as possible, it was as fast as possible. Speed certainly is an ingredient that many of us could mix into the recipe of our lives, nowhere more so than in the work of the Lord. Philip the evangelist had to run to get alongside the eunuch travelling in his chariot and life is moving at a faster pace now than when a chariot was the best transport.
Opportunities flash by and are gone. Most of us are in a hurry today, albeit going round in a circle.
We do not know what all the rush was about for Paul except that he said he served God without ceasing and was always ready to take the gospel to new listeners. We should be the same.
