“Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient” [John 6:7]

“Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient”. No! Neither is two hundred thousand pennyworth, nor all the bread from all the bakeries in the land enough, if mankind is to be truly fed! For, man shall not live by bread alone. But give these people Jesus and all their needs will soon be met. A miracle to satisfy today’s hunger is wonderful, but Jesus satisfies the depths of the soul, and that is greater still.
Some of the relief operations to needy parts are miracles in themselves as food and provisions are collected, then conveyed by ‘giant birds’ to the stricken areas. But humanitarian aid is not sufficient. The souls of men must be fed. Fed, but add to this the bread of the Gospel.
