Genesis – In The Beginning

Henry Morris, a well-known writer on this topic, points out that the early chapters of Genesis describe the origin of a whole host of things. He gives a list which is not exhaustive: it describes the origin of the universe, the order and complexity of the solar system, the atmosphere and the hydrosphere, life, man, marriage, evil, language, government, culture, nations. All those things are described in the first eleven chapters of Genesis – and we could add to that the institution of the Sabbath, which Morris did not include. So, if you undermine Genesis, you undermine the Bible’s teaching on a whole range of issues that impact us all, and you undermine the very central message of the Bible, the message of the Lord Jesus Christ as the answer to man’s sin problem. Without the opening chapters of Genesis, you would not have the explanation for why the world is in the state that it is.
