Rwanda

News from Rwanda:

Stephanie Moss, one of our Trustees has made several visits over the years to the Muhanga district of Rwanda. She has recently returned from one such visit and sent this report

This country is taking massive strides forward in development, and education and in lifting people out of poverty. We found the churches we visited to be lively, full of people of all ages with pastors who are keen to learn and to help their people to grow. Literacy is variable but we showed copies of BAM booklets to one of the church leaders to see if the language style and content would be helpful to them. He was very enthusiastic and we are praying about how we might take this further.

Please pray with us. We could use a recent legacy to fund the translation of several booklets and produce them locally and maybe make them available via the website. As you can imagine, there are few devotional or Bible study books available in Kinyarwanda (the local language)and although education is now in English it will be some time before most people can really read and understand english for themselves. The pastors we met were very attracted to the little yellow booklet of Break and Meditate but we feel this will be harder to translate and produce, although I can well imagine subsistence farmers putting one into their pocket and reading and thinking while they are out in the fields.

Praise God for this opportunity. We will let you know as we progress and do value your prayer so we can use resources well and wisely
