“Are you greater than our father Jacob … ? ” [John 4:12(RAV)]

<b>“Are you greater than our father Jacob … ? “.</b>  Yes, Jesus is greater than all who have gone before. Pile the achievements from the great ones of history and you have not begun to equal what the Lord has done.

Greater because no one else left heaven to come to earth and be our Saviour.

Greater because no one else could atone for the sins of the world. Salvation is to be found in none other.

Greater because He is seated at the right hand of the Father, where He intercedes for His children and promises one day to return. This Samaritan woman knew He was greater because He sought her out as she came to draw water, engaged her in conversation and offered her the water of life. Jacob may have dug the well but he could not give the satisfying water Jesus offered.
