“Deliver me from my enemies, O God” [Psalm 59:1(NIV)]
November 6
“Deliver me from my enemies, O God”. This is the cry of a man who cannot find his own way out of the dilemma in which he finds himself. It might be that his own indiscretion has landed him in this predicament.
More likely it is because he has stood firm for the truth that has aroused opposition.
There may be those who have no enemies – but they are few. Jesus’ ministry was one of help and counsel without parallel, yet it antagonised the religious leaders of his generation.
Avoiding those speaking against one only puts off the issue. On the other hand, confrontation may merely seek to satisfy one’s sense of justice.
God has never been known to fail. When things threaten to get too difficult or out of hand, call on Him for deliverance.
