“in the end he is nothing but a fool” [Jeremiah 17:11(GNB)]
October 17
“in the end he is nothing but a fool”. Jeremiah describes the person who gets money dishonestly as a bird that hatches eggs it did not lay and adds that in the prime of life he will lose his riches. You may have a lot, but if all you have can be taken from you, the Bible describes you as a fool. Security beyond the grave can only be found in Christ.
Jesus says that the Kingdom of heaven is like the Lord entrusting us with talents appropriate to our ability. We need to trade – not to accrue to ourselves but for our Master who will return and call us to account. It is what happens in the end that counts eternally.
Let it not be that in the end we are judged nothing but a fool.
