“One thing is needful” [Luke 10:42]

“One thing is needful”. A clean home? I’ve worked unceasingly since dawn this morning.
A meal worthy of the occasion? I’ve done nothing but plan and prepare ever since I knew you were coming.
A bit of help from someone? Well that would be appreciated, but I’ve let you know what I think about my lazy sister, Mary.
More care on my part? Why, you yourself said, Lord, that I’m careful and take trouble about many things.
Martha made an excellent servant and we can learn from her. But Jesus wanted her heart’s devotion and that could only be given in adoration at His feet.
