“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” [Psalm 111:10]

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”. Many years ago I heard a man pray, ‘I thank you God you are my pal’. I’ve often wondered where that man is now! If the Almighty is your ‘pal’ you will need someone greater to see you through the rigours of life.
If the Lord is merely a Name that thrills you as you sing worship songs, you’ll find your need of more when the music stops.
If the Lord is just a benign heavenly father who gives what you pray for, much as you get a bar of chocolate from a vending machine, you haven’t begun to understand the path of discipleship. We sometimes do mistake the Lord for one of us. His Name is the theme of the songs that lift our spirits in worship and adoration. The Lord does answer prayer, even while we’re asking. But He is the Lord God Almighty. Angels and archangels bow in His presence. How much more should we!
