“the Lord himself will strike him” [I Samuel 26:10(NIV)]

“the Lord himself will strike him”. David had opportunity to slay Saul and did not take it. Sometimes what seem to be opportunities are best left alone. Abishai, David’s companion gave two good reasons why David should take the opportunity to slay Saul.
First, Saul hated David for selfish reasons and hounded him throughout the country for many months. David had done all and more than anyone could expect to appease Saul.
Second, the opportunity to slay him presented itself without his asking. David and Abishai stole into the camp of Saul at night and found the king and all with him soundly asleep.
Now note the one reason that David proffered – killing Saul is something the Lord will do in His good time. David’s decision proved right. The Lord help you in difficult choices you have to make today.
