The Authorised Version uses the word ‘rumour’ – a word that graphically describes the way men and women gossiped the news – ‘Have you heard’ they would say, whether they believed it or not.
The news about Jesus is so wonderful. It is not just what He could do and did do in the days of the Gospels but what He is doing now. Men and women, boys and girls are getting saved. They are repenting of their sin, asking for forgiveness and receiving new life – eternal life – at the hand of a living Lord Jesus. God’s power is nothing to be ashamed of, but unless you and I tell it, it will not be experienced.
