“too wonderful” [Psalm 139:6]

“too wonderful”. The Psalmist cannot find words that adequately describe the Lord and what He has done for him. First, he tries to describe how the Lord knows all about him. Then he shows us how impossible it is to flee from the Lord – He is in the uttermost parts of sea and earth, in the deepest corners of hell and darkness.
He shows how this great God extends His loving care and all these make him resolve he will praise the Lord.
And how much more should we praise the Lord! Called to repent and believe the gospel to receive the assurance of salvation; holding the precious promise of Jesus that He is with us always. Too wonderful, but enough to fill our hearts with thanks and praise!
