“and they received the Holy Spirit” [Acts 8:17(RAV)]

<b>“and they received the Holy Spirit”. </b> It was not enough for the new believers in Samaria to receive the Word of God brought to them by Philip the Evangelist. Not enough for them to feel and be happy. All should be happy when they experience sin forgiven and peace with God.
They needed the Holy Spirit to enable them to live out the faith they had received. Indeed, they needed Christ to live in them and be seen by others. Christ is exalted to the Father’s right hand and promised that the Holy Spirit would administer the blessing to His followers.
More than mental assent and faith in the gospel they needed to receive the Holy Spirit to live out the gospel. Thank God for more mature believers who prayed for them to receive the Spirit!
