“And this is eternal life” [John 17:3(RAV)]

“And this is eternal life”. Man has been created with both the desire and propensity to live. Most people do not want to die. Man knows he must die, but he thinks about that as little as he can!
This zest for living displays itself in a number of ways. One aspect is the way in which man readily accepts the idea of life after death and the way that hope colours the imaginative picture that all will be well at last.
Jesus came to turn fond dream into reality. He gives reason to what otherwise is mere fantasy. He deals with the problem of death – the merit of His atoning death on the cross was confirmed by the resurrection. He came from heaven and made a way back to heaven for all who will follow it. Those who tread that way find God and knowing God is life eternal, Jesus said.
