“Blessed be the Lord for evermore. Amen, and Amen” [Psalm 89:52]
November 23, 2023
“Blessed be the Lord for evermore. Amen, and Amen”. This is the exultant conclusion to a psalm of praise. It is a long psalm and covers much ground and concludes as though the Psalmist is saying that we should go on praising Him for ever. So we should!
The praising heart has a contented life, one that recognises God’s hand is in control and that all things are working to fulfil His eternal purpose. Blessing the Lord is adding your contribution, small though it may seem, to the great volume of praise that ascends to heaven. It ensures you breathe the atmosphere of heaven and are in tune with its melody.
The double “Amen” suggests that we cannot emphasise this enough. It is asking all who hear to join in. Not one “Amen” but a never-ending cycle of blessing the Lord.
