“But who do you say that I am? “. Jesus was interested in what Peter thought. It is easy to be influenced by the opinion of the majority. Democracy is based upon accepting the voice of the majority.
But when it comes to receiving and trusting Christ it is accepting a minority verdict and a narrow way.
If you are ruled by what most people think you will not know Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God: you will either be opinionless or any opinion you hold will not affect your life.
But if you make your own decisions and if you recognise that Jesus is Lord, that is the work of the Holy Spirit making known the things of Christ to you. Jesus told Peter that flesh and blood had not revealed this to him.
