“But Zion said, ‘The Lord has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me.’ ” [Isaiah 49:14(RAV)]

January 10 - February 7

“But Zion said, ‘The Lord has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me.’ “. So we squeal before we are hurt and fear what never afflicts us!

The prophet reminds us that the Lord has written the names of His children upon the palms of His hands. What right have we to conclude He has forgotten and forsaken us when things don’t fall out as we would like or expect?

There is great comfort in God’s Word if we will read it. Our light persecution turns to face Him, if we will let it. Unanswered prayers are often the only thing that makes us continue talking to the Lord in prayer, so keeping us waiting deepens our communion with our heavenly Father.

But on no account do any of those indicate He has left us.
