“confessing their sins”. John the Baptist preached repentance and those baptised by him in Jordan confessed their sins.
The Apostle John wrote that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and James in his letter says that we should confess our faults one to another.
It sometimes seems that we can forget the past and just believe in Christ now. Does this make for faith without a foundation? Properly dig the “footings” of confession and then be built on the Rock of Salvation.
Confession and repentance really go together. We shall not remember everything and much sin and transgression we must be ignorant of, but if we would be filled with His salvation and righteousness let us call upon Him to forgive all our sin.
