“Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you”. King David sat meditating in his palace. He mused upon God’s goodness to him and as he looked around the cedar panelling, he recalled the sheep-fold that had been his home in his earlier years.
Then the idea struck him to build a house for the Lord in place of the tent Tabernacle. That his spiritual advisor, Nathan the prophet was visiting him at the time enabled him to get the go-ahead from the Lord. Though this was later confined to collecting materials, it is true to say that Solomon’s Temple was David’s inspired idea.
David’s meditation was on the Lord. It is when meditation is upon Him that lasting blessing comes from the exercise.
