“Don’t bother me” [Luke 11:7(NIV)]

April 9

“Don’t bother me”. The man in Jesus’ parable appreciated his bed more than the need of his neighbour and did not want to get up and give him bread. I think we are all guilty of this at times. The good thing is that he didn’t stay that way. For one thing his friend kept knocking and calling to him until he got up and gave him what he needed.
Certainly we should weigh carefully some of the demands made on us, but it should be to consider how and when we should help rather than why we should not.
After all, what is the bother – interrupting our leisure or helping our friend? Remember, being bothered is not a feeling known to our heavenly Father. Help from Him is readily available and never a bother. Don’t be restricted by ‘bother’: go out and help someone today.
