“everlasting life” [John 5:24]

January 28

“everlasting life”. The desire we have to live is clear evidence that death is foreign to our make-up. Yet the moment we are born it has been said that we begin to die.

Death and the after-life are topics rarely mentioned – so, folk are quite ignorant of what lies beyond the grave.

But Jesus dealt with the subject. He said quite categorically that those who believed in Him had everlasting life.

That is not to say they were spared passing through the curtain of death. Jesus said that all who have died will hear His voice and be raised or resurrected. He went on to say that those who have done good will come forth to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of damnation.

It means, what you do now, effects what will happen then.
