“the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge” [Ruth 2:12(RAV)]
January 27

“the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge”. Just as we each one differ from another, so does the way the Lord chooses to bring us to Himself. It is His dealing with Ruth and her response that makes the Book of Ruth what it is.
She was courted by a foreigner whom she married. She experienced a bereavement and found herself attending to a mother-in-law whom she had come to love. Her poverty brought out the beauty of her character. She listened to her mother-in-law and came to trust Jehovah. God wonderfully blessed her and gave her a full reward.
The story has been repeated countless times only with the details changed. Trusting in the refuge of the Almighty is the place of blessing for us all.
