“faith comes by hearing” [Romans 10:17(RAV)]

“faith comes by hearing”. This shows the need to proclaim or make known the gospel if folk are to believe.
The heart is touched when the gospel is preached. There is a reaction – either to accept or reject. Acceptance means that the hearer believes and places their faith in it. They are able to say, “I believe it.”
The mind may make the first decision but it must be conveyed to the heart. The Bible is quite clear on this point. Saving faith is more than mental assent. With the heart man believes unto righteousness. Emotion is involved: love, gratitude, amazement are feelings that may be involved. Pray that those who hear the gospel may believe: without this faith there is no salvation.
