“he brings them out of their distresses” [Psalm 107:28(RAV)]
July 25
“he brings them out of their distresses”. Nowhere does the Word of God try to minimise the distress that men bring upon themselves. Usually as a result of unbelief or distrust, the heart finds itself carried to a place where no way out can be found.
The Lord has a gracious way of taking His children by the hand and leading them out of the deepest valley.
Those who cry to the Lord in their trouble may expect deliverance. But having cried they need to look for it. He leads: they must follow.
It is not a case of taking deep breaths and trying to calm down: not even telling yourself not to worry (often an impossibility when distress is genuine). It is crying to the Lord and looking for the answer. Tears of self-pity can blind you to the way He is leading you.
