“Give, and it shall be given unto you” [Luke 6:38]

March 18

“Give, and it shall be given unto you”. These words are part of Jesus’ ‘Sermon on the Plain’ – a lengthy discourse recorded for us by Luke in his Gospel. Like the Sermon on the Mount it contains injunctions that are difficult to put into practice, such as loving your enemies, turning the other cheek and giving to everybody who asks something of you.
These sayings accurately describe a spiritual turnover God would have in our lives. God will fill the hungry soul with goodness but unless there is a movement – giving out to the blessing of others and then accepting and doing the same with more – there can be no real or spiritual advance.
Keep the ‘pot boiling’: give and get replenished from God’s limitless supply.
