“He supposed that his brethren understood” [Acts 7:25(RSV)]
November 8, 2024
“He supposed that his brethren understood”. Moses was not the only man to assume his fellow men would understand, only to find they did not appreciate what he was doing.
Folk can change, and those who have gone along with what we said for years can suddenly turn against us.
Some whom we trust implicitly because of their apparent loyalty are in fact only paying us lip service. When another or a better comes along they’ll be gone. And anyway, most of us are reluctant to say what we feel because of the consequences. All are, to some extent, wearing a polite mask or chauvinistic cloak.
The only One Who really understands, therefore the only One Whom you can with confidence implicitly trust, is the Lord Jesus.
