”he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God” [Luke 12:21(RSV)]
December 11
”he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God”. It is a natural desire to want to succeed. We are given pounds to trade with and talents to use. But it is making a profit without thought of God or seeking His will in it all that condemns us. And the world is full of people who are doing this.
The bank of heaven pays a good dividend – gilt edged in so much as it will never depreciate. Investment is easy and can be done by the poorest in this world’s rating.
Indeed, if you give to those in need until you have little left you can continue depositing good in the vaults of heaven.
Rich toward God may not be noticed by others, but riches of that nature will never fade or fail.
