“Lord, remember me” [Luke 23:42]

March 4

“Lord, remember me”. What was there to remember about him? His life as a robber? It was not his transformed life since conversion – he had none. He could not move a muscle – he was pinned to the cross, yet he had as great a conversion as anyone.
That any idea of Christ’s kingdom was far removed from the awful scene of crucifixion did not seem to trouble him.
Jesus was going to claim His kingdom and he had the honour of dying beside Him – suffering on a cross.
He didn’t need theology, a class for beginners, and extension of life: these were impossible now. He did have a heart and he gave it to Jesus and received an assurance as blessed as any. You have a heart too, no matter what else you may not have or know. Give it to Jesus.
