“Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made”. Any woman devoted to her family can find a lot in the home to distract her from personal prayer and meditation.
Sitting at the feet of Jesus and learning from Him is something that must be included in every true disciple’s daily timetable.
Take note of the fact that when Jesus passed by, Bartimaeus cried out for mercy, the woman with haemorrhage pushed through the crowd to touch Him and Zacchaeus climbed a tree to see Him. By contrast, Martha was distracted and busy about things that could be done later.
Her sister Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, a leper fell at His feet as did the demon-possessed man of the Gerasenes. Resist the distractions and take time to worship today.
