“Noah lived 950 years, and then he died” [Genesis 9:29(NIV)]
November 20
“Noah lived 950 years, and then he died”. A fascinating way to record this man who built the ark. First, that he lived for so long: he was six hundred when he entered the ark. Second, that though he lived so long, he still took that step common to us all – he died.
If we live one tenth his years we do well. But the inevitable must be faced. The following are worthy of note:
We can prepare for dying by living – Noah did, the Bible describes him a righteous man.
We cannot return (or even go back a year or two) for a second try – today is God’s gift to us once: there will never
be a day just like this one.
We need to be ready for when the Lord comes or calls.
Death has lost its “sting” since Jesus died for all those who will receive His salvation today.
