“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to thy name give glory” [Psalm 115:1(RSV)]

“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to thy name give glory”. There is always the temptation to take a little of the glory that should be the Lord’s. We can easily feel we have had a part in securing the blessing and benefit experienced. It may be because the temptation is ever present that the Psalmist repeated the request, ‘Not to us’. All we have is of the Lord. Every breath we take is given by Him. And if with the strength that is given to us we do something of value, the design was His in the first place. Any successful venture only happens because the Lord invites us to share with Him in it. We are co-workers together with Christ only at His instigation.
Let us therefore join with the Psalmist and take great care to give Him all the glory.
